Markus Kasemaa is a 3rd generation artist, active in traditional and conceptual art. In traditional line he carries on his parents and grandparents style while adding his own approach and contemporary topics. He is also working with topics of art processes, purpose of art and co-operation between art and other fields like science, business, diplomacy, etc. He promotes creativity and art in general, thus has been holding talks at schools, offices, conferences.
The currently presented artwork “Portable multifunctional smart device” from series “Predigital devices” differs much from his main body of artworks, that contains mainly surreal dynamic improvised figures. This one is a davinci-style idea sketch of a predigital equivalent to modern time smartphone and is at the same time a homage to scientists in and their creativity. Markus Kasemaa has created more science-connected art - recently his artwork “Genetic improvisation on world-map” was featured on the cover of journal Nature.
