CIPHR ERA CHAIR project
The aim of the CIPHR* project is to establish the Center of Photonics and Computational Imaging, a research unit within the University of Tartu (UTARTU), that will become a world leader in Computational Imaging, a sub field of photonics. This center will connect already strong scientific fields in UTARTU such as optics and spectroscopy, machine vision, remote sensing, electronics and informatics, and will enable them to thrive further by combining expertise and resources to investigate complex multidisciplinary problems.

We offer a career opportunity to an entrepreneurial-minded academic in the field of photonics and computational imaging. By accepting the challenge, you will establish your own interdisciplinary research group and work with the modern imaging challenges combining the science of light and computer science in collaboration with local research groups and institutes. In addition to top-notch research you will develop courses in photonics and lead applied research projects together with industry. The position and the group will be funded from the Horizon 2020 Widening ERA Chair project in the amount of 2.5 M€ for the next 5 years. The Chair holder will join the academic family of University of Tartu and has the opportunity to work together with various local research groups:

Institute of Computer Science,
Remote Sensing team in Tartu Observatory

Successful candidates will be invited to meet the project team over a web interview. The second round of interviews with selected candidates will take place in Tartu during December 2019 and January 2020. The newly selected ERA Chair holder will join the academic family of UTartu by March 2020.
